What’s In Your Golf Bag?

Are you new to the game of golf? Like most other sports, golf requires a bit of an investment upfront. The game relies on several pieces of equipment and it can be intimidating at first when you see all the options available.

There are several essentials you will need in order to play golf. You should focus on getting these before anything else. There are other things that can be considered optional rather than must-have items. This guide will make it easy for you to identify what should go in your golf bag so you can play your next round in confidence.

Here is what you need to get started:

Clubs

Golf clubs can be expensive and easily go into the four-figure range if you buy each club individually. Make it easy on yourself and buy a set. You can get a good set online for a few hundred dollars. This set should include the following clubs:

  • Irons
  • Fairway Woods
  • Driver
  • Putter

You may get some additional clubs, like hybrids, but if you have these four areas covered, you will be able to play a round of golf without any issues.

Balls

Balls come in all colors, styles, and price points. You do not have to get the most expensive balls with fancy futuristic materials used on the inside to play a round of golf. If you are new to golf, or even if you have been playing for decades, chances are that you will lose a good amount of them. The more you learn what your unique playing style is, the more refined you can become with the kind of balls you play golf with.

Tees

You are going to have to put your golf ball on a tee when you plan on using your clubs. Tees are mostly all the same besides being different heights. Depending on what club you will be using at any given time, you will need to use different tees. Short irons will usually require the least amount of height on a tee whereas drivers will need the most. You want to make sure you get the most loft and distance you can when using your clubs.

If you want an easy way out of a situation where you would be getting tees with varying sizes, just buy tees that are longer. You can always press them down further into the ground if you do not need the additional height.

Gloves

The last piece of equipment you should have in your bag, or even just on you for the entirety of the game, is a pair of golf gloves. You will have a better grip on your clubs and also avoid potential blisters. If you are playing in the mornings, they will also help keep your hands warm. Make sure to buy gloves that offer you a snug fit that is not too tight when you make a fist

These are the essential pieces of equipment you should have in your golf bag. With this gear, you are ready to head to the links and play a fun round of golf.
