What are the Witness Requirements for my Contest?

golf-ball-flightA great and easy way to add tons of excitement to your golf tournament is a hole in one prize package from US Hole In One. It gives the golfers in your tournament a chance to win awesome prizes. But in order for them to win the prizes you must make sure to adhere to the terms and conditions. A very important section of the terms and conditions it the section about the witness requirements.

For both the grand prize and bonus hole in one prizes there are witness requirements for  hole in one insurance. On the grand prize hole, whether it be a car or cash, a witness must view the winning shot going into the hole. They must have a clear and unobstructed view of every golfer that steps up to strike a shot towards the tee. The witness needs to see the ball move throughout the entire shot too, from the tee to the hole. It is critical to get this right since without a witness that fits the requirements of hole in one insurance, the insurance provider is not required to pay out your prize.

However, there are a few specifics you must know about the witness requirement.

Hole In One & Shootout Contests

  • All witnesses must be 18 years of age or older and appointed by the association member.
  • For all prize limits, two (2) playing partners of the winner are required, including the bonus hole in one prizes.
  • Prize limits of $2,000 to $59,999, one non-event participant witness.
  • Prize limits of $60,000 to $150,000, two non-event participant witnesses.
  • Prize limits of $150,001 to $1,000,000, two non-event participant witnesses (one of which is a PGA Professional or Police Officer), as well as a continuous, unedited videotape shot from behind the green of all shots to win the prize.
  • A videotape is also required, in addition to the witness requirements for all agreements in which both: the number of contestants is 24 or less AND the Prize Value is $25,000 or greater.

Putting Contest

  • All witnesses must be 18 years of age or older and appointed by the association member.
  • For all prize limits, a continuous, unedited videotape must show the measurement of the putt distance, ball placement and the ball being struck and ending up in the hole (cup).
  • Prize limits up to $10,000, one non-contest participant witness is required.
  • Prize limits $10,001 to $50,000, two non-contest participant witnesses is required (one of which must be a PGA Professional).

US Hole in One recommends that the witness situate themselves some place where they can easily see both the teeing ground and the hole being targeted. You may wish to place the witness at the green or at the tee box, just make sure they will be able to see the entire shot and are protected from incoming balls!
